HOW BREADCOM STARTED
It all started in a dream, a vision if you may. Then the dream began to take shape. After conferring with leaders of God, Rev. Nomer C. Bernardino grouped and started the Upper Room in the hub of business, a place for unwinding, tensed and tired bodies after a days' work through worship and the Word of God. The fellowship grew large there was no more room for Upper Room to accommodate more people coming in. And the fellowshippers decided they wanted more than just a fellowship. They craved for a church. |
 |
Dreams are not only realized, they grow. It was then that Bread From Heaven Christian Fellowship BF Homes, Las Pinas decided to accept the challenge to take the dream higher, to set up a church amidst the hubbub of business in the Ortigas area. They sent Pastor Nomer, the dreamer who saw the Ortigas Center vision, to reach the movers of society where they are at. Starting with a few volunteer businessmen, the Vesper Service was inaugurated at Rudgen Building, Shaw Boulevard in Pasig on January 12, 1997. This center was shared by then Bread from Heaven-Pasig under Pastor Eli de Jesus, and Mandaluyong under Pastor Ernie Calderon with the former Upper Room Midweek Service. The Vesper attracted young families, artists and other busy persons seeking for a haven within their vicinity. And steadily it grew.

But God has other plans at work. Evidently a work of God, by mid-1997, the three entities merged into one, named Bread from Heaven - East appointing Pastor Nomer at its helm. Considering the different personalities of each group, the union was a real challenge but the steering committee of each fellowship accepted the task at hand.
Yet, even with the Rudgen center, the Church was not in the area it is to be, being in the midst of the people was the dream. So, despite the financial difficulties, the Bread from Heaven – East made a step of faith and moved its ministry center to Manuela Apartelle and its services at Galleria Suites. The transfer not only saw an increase in attendees but also in finances considering an ongoing recession in the country. As the members increased, more ministries were born and a need for a bigger center was at hand. The search for the next ministry center began mid-1999. |
Bread from Heaven-East seemingly crossed their Jordan when they relocated once again to a more permanent place at Peaksun building Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City. And it was a leap of faith when they gave the down payment for the purchase of the entire third floor. Hastily and to save time, the steering committee began organizing the church.
And on December 12, 1999, Bread From Heaven Community Church was born. From an attendance of 200 it has grown to around 600 people and more workers committed themselves.

But birth pangs continued to beset this newborn church that radical changes were implemented which shook at its very foundation. Through prayers and the commitment of its members, the young organization was able to weather the storm. |
And grow bigger the dream did. Now a daughter church is held weekly in the center of the Marikina City, the Marikina congregation, born through a bible study of another visionary Pastor Jollieh Petallo and now competently handled by Pastor Rodel Catuy. In the year 2002, another daughter church was born – Bread From Heaven Manggahan. It seems that there is no stopping the growth of Bread From Heaven Community. |

From a Wednesday midweek service of a bunch, it now boasts of a big ministry center in a big building with a Sunday worship attendance of about 600 and still growing.
In the end, the Author of dreams is due our worship. After all those crossroads and several moves and detours, after all the stretching exercises, Bread From Heaven Community Church has just celebrated its eight year anniversary.
Looking back at the faithfulness and providence of God in every turn made, the church now have its own ministry center at Shaw Towers, three Sunday services and a midweek service at 6th Floor Parking Area of Shangri-La Mall along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City. More ministries are also being started, additional care groups established, and numerous volunteers ready to go.
