Passion for the Lost
by Jossette Santos

In those days, Jesus was aghast to see people peddling their wares in God's Temple. He drove them out of the House of God and turned their tables. He was consumed with His quest for holiness and love for God.

In another instance, Jesus saw a widow mourning for her son has just died. Moved with compassion, Jesus touched the young man's casket and commanded the man to arise. And he did.

Jesus was a man of love. He demonstrated strong emotions in the Bible stories. He was a visionary. A man with a purpose. A man led by the Spirit to share the good news of salvation.

Those who come in contact with Jesus are themselves inspired to talk about the Messiah. Jesus in their lives emboldened them to walk the walk and talk the talk. His disciples emulated Jesus. When Jesus ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, empowered the disciples to continue Jesus' Ministry.

Today, we know of passionate men who dare preach the gospel of salvation. David Livingstone was a missionary and his heart beat to see the people of Africa won for Jesus. Dwight L. Moody established a massive church in Chicago. Moses parted the sea for the Israelites to be able to reach the Promise Land. Hudson Taylor sacrificed even his life to bring the Gospel to China.

These and many others who were passionately in love with God and dedicated to God's direction, did amazing exploits for His glory. In today's era of mediocrity and callousness, Christians will only passionately share the Gospel, if they have God's heartbeat, God's Spirit, God's eyes of faith and God's mind. We will only share the treasure of salvation if we fully understand God's purpose in this life. May we yield to God and passionately feel for the lost. Amen.

“Faith makes, life proves, trials confirm,
and death crowns the Christian.”- Hopfner
